Sleep is an essential physiological need, for our physical and psychological well-being. When sleep is not restful, it affects our whole life. A large number of people come to consult on this subject.
What can be done for these people who suffer from chronic or occasional sleep disorders?
What can be the causes of these disorders that affect a good general balance?
The reasons given by the people who consult are often stress, anxiety.
The sleep disorders for which people consult are the following: insomnia, difficulty falling asleep, nightmares, night terrors, night wakings, sleepwalking, hypersomnia...
For years, Sophie has been having short or incomplete nights. She can't remember the last time she had a long night of restful sleep. Either she falls asleep easily but wakes up after 4 or 5 hours and can't get back to sleep, or she only manages to fall asleep in the early morning and has a lot of trouble getting out of bed when her alarm clock rings. Every night, the anxiety of not sleeping seizes her. And every morning, she must overcome her fatigue to face her day.
It's like a vicious circle that's set in.
It is with this symptom that she comes to see me, without really believing that hypnosis can help her. She has tried everything, she says, but she is ready for a new experience.
I first ask her if there are any medical reasons for her insomnia. Sophie has consulted different doctors who have not identified any medical reason to explain her situation.
We can then begin our work together. Sophie tells me that she would like to have a deep, restful sleep and feel rested and energized in the morning. I help her through my questions to identify the root cause of her problem. After the first session, her stress level decreased significantly. When I see her again the following week, she tells me that she has slept one or two hours more each night than usual. Sophie has a personal story that explains her insomnia. For years she had tried to repress certain events in her life, but thanks to hypnosis, she was able to digest her history, regain her energy and resume a normal life. Within a few sessions, her insomnia was a bad memory.
Hypnosis is a brief therapy that allows to solve various problems, psychological or physical (such as recurring pain that has no medical reason).
Hypnosis does not replace medical treatment.
