Recurring back pain: solutions with hypnotherapy*.
Louis is 39 years old. He has been complaining of very disabling back pain since he was 25 years old. These chronic pains led him to consult many doctors and to follow medical and osteopathic treatments which helped him punctually. However, when he stopped the treatments, the back pain returned. The doctors have not identified a mechanical reason for the pain.
It is with these elements, and with the feeling of having tried everything, that Louis comes to see me. He has no more energy, he is discouraged. He would like to lead a normal life, to get back into sports, to enjoy life, without having a bad back. He has always loved hiking, but he can't walk for more than an hour without the pain coming back.
With the medical check-up done, we can look for possible psychological causes. Louis tells me that he often worries about other people and tends to blame their problems on himself. He is "fed up" with this way of functioning. However, his powerlessness in certain situations frustrates him and makes him angry. In addition, he is unable to express his emotions or to open up to others. His strict and austere upbringing has left a deep impression on him and he is unable to free himself from certain limiting beliefs.
Louis realizes that he must free himself from this inner anger that he feels deeply, and almost permanently. This first awareness is fundamental.
In just a few sessions of hypnotherapy, Louis manages to detach himself from problems that do not belong to him and to be himself. He is no longer overwhelmed by his negative emotions, which he accepts more easily. His pain gradually disappears. I teach him how to free himself from the tensions of the day, by breathing, and by taking a shower when he comes home. Practicing this exercise on a daily basis allows him to release the pressure and avoid the cup being full.
Chronic pain often has a psychological origin*. They can be triggered by excessive stress. It is possible with hypnotherapy to reduce stress by learning to feel less impacted by external events.
